New Events Page

Please visit the new and improved “Events” page to see what’s on the horizon throughout the year. This will not be an exhaustive list but will feature many of the events (road, track, MTB etc) that Audlem CC and other local clubs and organisations are promoting. These will also include any events that our members are planning on taking part in. To help populate this page please could you send your calendar of events you have entered, or are aware of, to me and I’ll incorporate it into our pages – this is a great way of getting more people involved in more riding! Send the event info + website details if you can via the comments tab or to me at timball@hollycot22.freeserve.co.uk or timb@reaseheath.ac.uk

It’s coming up to the Reliability Ride time of year – many runs planned in February and March including our own on 26th Feb so lets see if we can have strong Audlem presence for all the local events. Keep coming back for updates. Thank you for your support.

The “Day After Boxing Day”, Tuesday Ride

Several people have been in touch saying they are planning to be out on Tuesday (27th) for a ride . The plan is to decide destination on the day but departure time will be 9-15 rather than the usual 9am start

(Come on it is Christmas and we do deserve a lie in!!)

Weather looking dodgy for Sunday – is it worth the risk???

There will be plenty of ice about according to Sunday morning’s forecast. Although dry, it will be very cold (overnight frost) Road riders please proceed with caution and if it looks dodgy do the safe thing and go out much later – delay your start until 11ish if you can

For those who would still like to get out why not dig out the mountain bike. Hanchurch Hills/Swynnerton Park is looking favourite so I’ll see you there – see the maps on the MTB page

Christmas Ride and Lunch

11 riders set off from The Square yesterday on the pre-lunch ride – destination Marbury to enjoy tea,

John Rap, Andras, Livvi, Tim, Ash C, Paul B, Andy M, Danny Y, Dave C, Paul M + Steve Cox(took the pic)

coffee and cakes at Andy Mason’s house. The windy weather seemed to be in our faces all the way on the route that took in Wilkesley, Ightfield, Ash, Whitchurch and Black Park. Following the re-fueling at Chez Mason a somewhat more direct route was used to get back to Audlem – still very windy and this leg was in the rain too. We had another rider now as Andy’s dad Dave joined us. Time to adjourn to the Lord Combermere where other riders, families and friends joined together to enjoy a great meal and good company

Special thanks go to Andy and Elaine Mason for their kind hospitality and to Rachel Wilson who organised the meal at the Comber.

It’s second Friday of the month…….

…… so it’s Social Night time again! Usual time, usual place – that means from 8pm at the Lord Combermere Audlem although most people don’t get there until nine – something to do with circuit training at Shavington or so they say!!

The club Christmas Lunch and optional ride takes place on Sunday 11th December at The Lord Combermere. If you haven’t already placed an order please could you have a look at the menu, make your selection and let Tim Ball or Rachel Wilson know your choices. The original deadline has now passed but if you could let us know by this Wednesday 30th November at the very latest. This can be e-mailed and payment will need to be made as soon as possible

Cycling opportunity in France

Enjoy three days in Macon and take part in their annual cycle race!

The former Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council was twinned with Macon is France and despite the recent east west split of Cheshire some twinning opportunities remain. It’s interesting to see the Macon CC is relatively new – not dissimilar from ourselves. Many of you are aware, but just as many will not be, that one of our founder members and secretary Ian Middleton is moving on from Audlem CC to persue an opportunity of riding in a team of time triallists – Ian’s preferred discipline. Westmead Team 88 are based in south Manchester and Ian’s desire to compete more effectively in time trials next season has resulted in his decision to move from Audlem. In order to represent Westmead Team 88 Ian has had to resign from Audlem but will “rejoin” us as a Second Claim member – this means he can ride with us etc but has no voting rights and cannot compete in Audlem name and colours. All of you I’m sure would like to wish Ian every success for the future and I cannot finish without expressing the sincerest thanks for everything that Ian has done to help get Audlem CC off the ground and move it to the position it is in today. We look forward to seeing Ian out on our rides over the winter when individuals will no doubt extend their best wishes personally – good luck and thanks
