Whether you search the internet or read the many books on Training and Coaching for cycling they all focus on steady Aerobic miles for this time of the year or what they call Aerobic Base Training. These rides are not races they are the foundation of building your base for next year.When in the spring those riders that want to race timetrials ,road race ,ride a fast sportive can introduce specific speed sessions,hill sessions into their training programme. The rider who aims to become the fittest by constantly riding at race pace at this time of year does not necessary become the fittest when it matters most …..in the Summer (unless you race cyclo cross this time of the year).As a matter of interest have a look on the Lance Armstrong 3month training programme on the internet for OCT/NOV/DEC.
