Reliability Ride Success

28 02 2011

Yesterday saw the club’s annual Relibility Ride over 55 miles of Cheshire and Shropshire roads and lanes.    Having signed on at Audlem Cyclesport the 51 riders set off towards Whitchurch and then onwards to Malpas.    A right turn sent the group to Hampton Heath crossing the A41 and onwards to the furthest point of the ride passing Beeston Castle.   Homeward bound now via Spurstow, Bunbury,  Nantwich and Bridgemere.      Unfortunately the weather was not as kind as it could have been but the main “bunch” arrived back at the shop wet, cold and rather dirty within 3 hours – a very creditable performance given the conditions.

It was great to see a very large turnout of Audlem members but equally pleasing to have many riders from Crewe Clarion, Newcastle and Macclesfield – thank you all for your support

Big thanks also go to Mike Wilson for organising the event and mapping the route

Relability Rides (sometimes described as “Mudguard Mass Starts”) are traditional early season non-competitive training events and give a good indication of early season form – definitely worth taking part in if you enjoy riding in a large group too!

Watch out for Audlem’s end of year event – “The Grand Finale” – a similar event but held in late October – a big group blast to see out the racing season

Newport CC are holding their Reliability Ride on Sunday 6th March meeting in the middle of the town by B&M Bargains – 9am for 9-15 roll out.   Their route takes in Eccleshall, Stableford, Woore, Walgherton, Audlem and Market Drayton so let’s put out a big group from Audlem as we did at the North Shropshire Wheelers event last weekend  – see you there
