AUDLEM CC July Series – MARSHAL ROTA and race info

28 06 2018

The 2018 July Series is just around the corner – let’s hope this perfect weather continues

The 4 events take place on Tuesday 3rd, 10th 17th and 24 July

To ensure you know when you are racing or marshalling please make sure you look closely at the Audlem CC July Series – MARSHAL ROTA v3

A marshal briefing will take place at  the HQ each week at 6-30pm – please arrive promptly for this

As a trial this year we have attempted, with a few exceptions, to leave race groups and categories as complete as we can and have taken whole groups/categories of riders out to perform marshalling/support duties (wherever possible all requests have been agreed)  We feel this will give more balanced and compete groups in each age category

As usual the Bike Marshals will be providing there invaluable support to help the event go safely for all

Event HQ is the Audlem Scout and Guide Hall, CW3 0AH, and as usual the Guides and Brownies will be benefiting from our events thanks to the donations received for the post race refreshments

At 6-50pm each week races will be proceeded by a thorough briefing to riders by race officials and Bike Marshals – please be there promptly – note riders WILL be reminded of the importance of their safety and the safety of other road users !!

Woore Circuit

Races will depart the car park at 7pm    The ‘default course’ for all 4 events is the Woore Circuit – 2 laps of 15 miles – we will use the Lightwood Green circuit only when forced to do so

We look forward to 4 weeks of enjoyable, fast and safe racing

Lightwood Green Circuit

Time To Get Your Entry In

7 06 2018

The Audlem CC July series is fast approaching – Tuesday 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th

The usual arrangement of race in 3 and marshal 1 is in place and we hope for some decent weather to go with the great racing

Please not that because this is a race on the public highway you MUST be a full member of  TLI Cycling to enter   It is not possible to race on a “day licence”.   Also note there is no entry on the day

Full details including membership application and race entry details can be found on the TLI Cycling website

Race HQ is the Audlem Scout and Guide Hall and races  will start at 7pm

We have 2 circuits at our disposal – typically 2 laps of the 15 mile “Woore” circuit will be the default choice but if necessary we will fall back on the “Lightwood Green/Adderley” circuit – 3 laps of the 10 mile loop

The Tour of Flanders – Good luck Steve!

29 03 2018

Best wishes and good luck to Steve Jones who is taking part in the Tour of Flanders Sportive (Ronde Van Vaanderen Cyclo) on Saturday 31st March

This iconic route is littered with challenging sections of cobbles and some brutal climbs – many of which are cobbled too!

Following his race on Saturday Steve will be following the pros when they race on Sunday

To find out more about the Sportive click here

Also note the pro’s race can be seen live on Eurosport 1 (Sky 410) from 9-15am

21 03 2018

British Summer Time starts this weekend so don’t forget to put your clocks forward an hour when you go to bed on Saturday night.    If you forget you’ll be late for your ride on Sunday

As BST starts let’s hope it is a signal that the long drawn out winter is finally drawing to a close.    Decent weather and lighter evenings mean we can get out for a ride after work but remember to be careful and we suggest that even in good visibility you use lights on your bike

Ride safely

Reliability rides are getting more popular and it is important for everybody’s safety a few basic principles of riding in a group are observed.

1. Please support the organising club by registering and paying the entry fee.
2. Whilst riding this event, you are representing yourself, your club, the SCCA and the sport of cycling.
3. It’s not a race; there are no prizes and no points to be earned.
4. You are responsible for your own safety and for that of your fellow riders.
5. Follow the Highway Code and respect other road users – even if they don’t respect you
6. Be courteous to drivers, horse-riders and other road users, even if they are not courteous to you.
7. Make sure that you know the route or have a map of it. Make a note of any emergency contact numbers.
8. Make sure you are self-sufficient and carry tools, spares, money, phone, wet weather gear and anything else you may need.
9. Ride no more than two abreast. Ride single file when it isn’t safe to ride in pairs.
10. Call out when you are passing someone and only ever pass on the right.
11. Point out hazards to your fellow riders and call out “Car up”/”Car back” or “Car down” when there are vehicles.
12. Try to only cross junctions when the entire group can cross. If this isn’t possible wait on the other side so that riders left behind aren’t tempted to take chances.
13. Do not use mobile phones while riding. Stop at the side of the road to make or receive a call.
14. No ‘selfies’ while on the move.
15. At least one hand on the bars at all times. No donning or removing of clothing on the move.
16. Dispose of gel wrappers or any other litter at the finish, not on the course.

With cycling getting ever more popular we need to ensure that everyone stays safe, and that we do not alienate the authorities. Although these guidelines have been produced for reliabilities many of them are equally appropriate for club runs etc.

Please remember the guidelines above and enjoy the rides.

Thank you

Of course you are.    So do let’s make someone do something about them by reporting problems when you see them.

It’s quick and simple and what’s more the relevant councils are duty bound to investigate them and rectify where appropriate

Use the Cheshire East “Report it” site here  or the UK Government “Report a Pothole” website here

You pay Council Tax so make it work for you

1 01 2018

It’s not always possible to say exactly who but we can get an idea of where people are when they click on our club page

The 2 photos show where in the World people were checking in from on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (click on the photos for a larger image)

That’s a lot of countries listed as Audlem CC goes “global” !!
